The foundation learning programme is a person-centred programme of learning aimed at 18-25 year olds with moderate to severe learning disabilities, offering the opportunity to develop skills for life and work through a practical and holistic approach to learning. All learners have an individualised programme that enables learning at their own pace with assessed support. Vocational learning areas include: • Land based Studies - Small Holdings, Garden, Estate, Woodland Management • Retail - on-site shop • Hospitality and Catering - on-site bed and breakfast facility; on-site corporate catering • Crafts - Woodwork, Weaving, Soap and Bath Bomb Making, Candle Making, Printing • ICT - dedicated ICT workshops, digital media • Personal Development and Citizenship • Work Experience - access to external work experience placements Essential Skills: Literacy and numeracy are embedded through a target system in all vocational areas. Additional discrete sessions are also available where appropriate. Different ages, disabilities and genders live in each residential house supported by staff in accordance with their needs. Learners have the opportunity to learn and increase their personal care, household ILS, cooking and socialisation skills and to identify leisure activities of interest in the wider community.
