The two-year Football Development programme combines full-time education and training to realise a player's true potential both academically and physically. By combining top class football coaching with full-time education and other nationally recognised qualifications, the Football Development programme offers a multitude of routes for students to progress into, including sports related Further Education or full-time employment. Students will access the BTEC National Diploma in Sport, plus a choice of A-Levels if desired, equivalent to three 'A' levels, and will receive daily professional football coaching. The academic side of the course will cover 18 units including The Body in Action, Health & Safety in Sport, Fitness Training in Sport, Fitness Testing in Sport, Sports Nutrition, Sports Psychology, The Athlete's Lifestyle and Technical & Tactical Skills in Sport. In addition, students will also be given the opportunity to achieve various Sports Coaching Awards, Leadership Awards, Sports Injuries Treatment qualifications, as well as opportunities to interact with the local community, whilst being excellent role models both in and around school. Practically, the team train for 2 hours every day and compete on Wednesday afternoons, running 3 teams in the British College's Football League and both local and national school's cup competitions.
