A single-session workshop for students with some experience in the flamenco dance art-form of Bata de Cola. Learn the art of dancing with the flamenco tail skirt. This workshop is aimed at fast improvers, intermediate and advanced level flamenco dancers (male or female). You will learn how to move and manipulate your tail skirt and then how to introduce it into flamenco choreographies. It is preferred, but not essential, that you have your own tail skirt (the tutor will have some tail skirts for students to borrow and can advise on buying your own flamenco tail skirt or dress). You can choose to attend this workshop in the studio or live-streamed via Microsoft Teams. It is recommended that you attend in the studio if at all possible. You will receive a video of the workshop so you can continue to practise at home. Achievement on your course will be measured by whether you meet the following learning outcomes.
What you need to get on
This course is suitable for students of a fast improvers, intermediate and advanced level only. Although women traditionally wear the flamenco tail skirt, men are also welcome in this class. You should be aware that it is a practical class and so you will need to be able to participate in the physical activities planned to the best of your ability. Your tutor is very happy to make any adjustments to exercises set to meet particular physical or learning needs.
