This course is designed to give students the practical and theoretical knowledge required for employment in the aquaculture, fisheries management, or wildlife sector. You will learn how to carry out population surveys whilst using equipment and machinery safely. It will develop a range of employability skills that employers in land-based industries require. A mixture of practical and theory lessons is delivered making use of the large estate available at Hadlow College which includes access to the specialist fisheries facilities. This includes Grove farm fishery, the fish farm, the River Bourne, Bourne hatchery and aquarium, enhancing the student experience and allowing them to work with current industry technology and techniques. The course is aimed at those who want to gain employment in the fisheries, aquatics, and aquaculture industries, or have a keen interest in employment within the environmental conservation and habitat management/improvement sector. This qualification should allow progression into management roles or onto a higher education qualification in aquaculture, fisheries, or wildlife conservation management.
