Fine Art refers to the visual exploration of ideas, meanings and feelings at a personal level and also in the wider context of their social, historical and cultural connections. The area of study is broad to enable students to explore and develop their understanding of the formal elements in a variety of media. Students endeavour to work independently and have freedom to develop and communicate meaning through their exploration and experimentation. They are expected to research thoroughly in order to develop informed opinions and critical judgements about their own work and that of other artists.

What you need to get on

GCSE grade 6 or above only or recommendation of Head Of Department. Submission of portfolio/digital portfolio will be required from external applicants, prior to the start of the course.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
