Film Studies is a course which focuses on the understanding, appreciation and enjoyment of film. With particular focus on narrative, genre, financial and global concerns Film Studies will encourage and develop skills of observation, critical analysis, personal reflection, written expression and creativity. What you will do: • Analyse a range of films • Study several films in close critical detail • Discuss different approaches to film production, distribution and exhibition • Research the background to different Hollywood studios and the UK film industry • Create a storyboard/screenplay to make your own short film (course work). Future prospects: Film Studies is an excellent choice for anyone to broaden their range of subjects. Career choices: Work in the media or Higher Education courses • Support for any English or History programme of study • Higher education courses linked to the visual arts and film/ television production.
