What the college says

A-Level Film Studies will enable you to deepen your understanding, appreciation and enjoyment of film; the main cultural innovation and major art form of the 20th century. The interaction between spectator and film is central to this course. There is a strong emphasis on investigating how film works both as a powerful medium of representation and as an aesthetic medium. You will study a diverse range of film and explore the significance of film and film practice in national, global and historic contexts. During the two-year course you will also have the opportunity to create your own short film.

What you need to get on

Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English Language and Maths.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
