Film is the major art form of the twentieth century. It is the medium of the new millennium and is constantly growing and changing. This course will give you the opportunity to use film as your texts, deepening your understanding, appreciation and enjoyment of all areas of cinema. Both critical and creative approaches will be developed. Modules & Assessment Unit 1: Exploring Film Form - you will learn how to analyse micro aspects of a selection of popular films. This is a coursework module which is showcased in one written analysis and one creative project. Unit 2: British and American Film - focus on the film industry and the relationship between producers and audience. This is a 2.5 hours written examination paper Unit 3: Film research and Creative Projects. A small-scale research project & creative project (coursework) Unit 4: Varieties of Film Experience - focus on world cinema and a variety of film styles and movements. This is examined in a 2.75 hours written examination paper.
