What the college says
Families Reading Every Day (FRED) 5 x 2 hour session Family Course This course is for parents and carers who want to support their child/children with reading. Any adult family member or carer who would like to develop their understanding of the importance of early interaction with phonics, words and books – this course is great for the whole family! The purpose of this course is to develop learners’ understanding of the methods and steps used to teach children to read. Studies show there are lots of positive effects for children if all family members read regularly to them, including: better attendance at school; higher self-esteem and confidence; making friends and a higher likelihood of going on to higher education... and learning more as an adult! This is an online or face-to-face course where you’ll learn together and take part in practical group activities, all in a relaxed and friendly environment.
