The Level 2 Animal Care Extended Certificate is designed allowing you to focus on a small number of units whilst receiving support to complete assignments. You will infill with the Level 2 Diploma learners but will complete less units in total. You will complete practical and theoretical units and it is ideal if you feel you may require more support once you complete the Level 1 Animal Care (Land Based Studies) Diploma. It also offers a good opportunity to concentrate on achieving your Maths and English qualifications.

What you need to get on

The entry qualifications for the Level 2 Animal Care Extended Certificate are four GCSEs at grade 3 or above (old grade D or above) or equivalent. As well as Level 1 Functional Skills in Maths and English. You will need to demonstrate that you have completed two days of meaningful work experience.

How you are assessed

One subject in depth, assessed largely through coursework and projects.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
