What the college says

This course is for you if you would like to develop your understanding of written texts. It will help you to improve your ability to read a variety of text types about a wider range of subjects. In this course, you will develop reading, speaking and listening, and writing skills. Each term includes all four skills but focuses on a specific skill for the exam taken in that term. When you pass each skill you will receive a certificate for that particular skill. To achieve the full ESOL Level 1 qualification, you must pass Speaking and Listening Level 1, Reading Level 1 and Writing Level 1.

You will take an initial assessment which will determine your current level of English. You may join this course if your assessed level is just below the standards at Level 1.

How you are assessed

Entry level and Level 1 study, English and maths retakes, and supported programmes.

A first step that builds towards Level 2.
