If you welcome the prospect of developing research skills, thinking independently and engaging in critical debate, this is the course for you. English Literature students are taught to think analytically, consider different interpretations and listen and respond to one another sensitively. Also, one of the most important skills you will learn is how to write coherently and critically. This is an essential skill and it will aid you in other subjects and is invaluable in higher education and the world of employment.

What you need to get on

Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade9*-4 (or equivalent), including English Language and Literature. Experience shows that your chances of success are greater if you have a Grade 6 in both GCSE English Language and Literature.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
