What the college says

The full A Level course contains 4 units for study, including 3 examination units and 1 coursework unit. Students will study a range of texts from different genres and different literary periods. For the examinations students will study a selection of poetry and drama texts that will encourage them to explore how writers craft their work, reflecting upon important themes and ideas that are presented within each text. They will also study how to approach unseen poetry and prose texts. For the coursework assignment students will study 2 prose texts that they select independently. They will explore and compare how the texts have been crafted, as well as the contextual factors influencing their production and the critical reception for each one.

What you need to get on

A minimum of five 4-9 grades at GCSE including grade 6 or above in English Literature.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
