What the college says
Candidates will studya range of genres andtext types throughout their time on the course. An array oftexts will be studied: a Shakespearean play, a modern play, prose texts and a compilation of poetry. The course aims to develop analytical, critical and evaluative skills through the study of a range of unseen texts. We will also look at the critical opinions of others on the texts and use media to inform our interpretations. When possible, students are offered theatre trips to seestudied textsperformed. In addition to this you will be given the opportunity to write a critical piece on a work of literature that you have enjoyed and/or turn that piece into a different form altogether through the re-creative process in the coursework component of the course.
What you need to get on
Centre requirements and at least a grade 4 in English Literature and English Language.
How you are assessed
Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
