All students are advised to have a GCSE grade 5 or above in English Language. If you want to study English Literature, you should also have at least grade 5 in this subject. You should have an open mind to all sorts of literature and be prepared to debate, discuss and think independently. You need to have a good standard of English to be able to write clear and coherent essays. If you are taking Literature you need to be prepared to read...a lot!
