This course is suitable for those who prefer to be assessed through examinations at the end of year 13. Words create worlds, both in literature and elsewhere. Engaging creatively and critically with a wide range of texts, this course allows candidates to explore the similarities and differences between prose, poetry and drama but also beyond this to non-fiction texts that do not get as much attention: personal letters, spontaneous speech, multimedia texts. Students also develop skills not only as interpreters of language but also producers by creating texts themselves and critically reflecting on their own processes of production.

What you need to get on

A minimum of a grade 6 in English literature or language.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
