The English Language and Literature course is for students who enjoy reading a very wide range of material of all types, and who enjoy writing their own material. You should be prepared to take on a reasonable weight of reading during the course, and develop the ability to think clearly, discuss confidently, read perceptively, and write coherently, both in your own writing and in your response to texts. Students should be prepared to read widely independently to inform their responses to text and their own writing. Students will study three units for the A Level course, including both reading and writing about society, reading a range of literary heritage and modern texts, and choosing a particular literary theme or technique of personal interest to study.
