This specification provides you with a natural progression from your GCSE study of English Language. It offers opportunities for you to develop your subject expertise by engaging creatively and critically with a wide range of texts. You will create texts and reflect critically on your own processes of production, whilst analysing the texts produced by others. You will be encouraged to: ?pursue lines of enquiry, debate different views, and work independently to research aspects of language in use ?explore social contexts for language and how language has changed. This will include regional, ethnic, national and global variations in English and the attitudes people have towards them. ?develop methods of exploring and understanding spoken and written language in use ?use linguistic methods to analyse and investigate a variety of extracts from a variety of sources, including those from different historical time periods ?develop your ability to express yourself in speech and writing, producing different texts for different purposes, audiences and in difference genres

What you need to get on

To take 3 A Levels at Allerton Grange you are required to have a minimum of 5 GCSE subjects at grade 4 and above. English Language specific requirements are Maths grade 4 or above and English Language grade 5 or above.
