What the college says
Unlock the power of communication with A-Level English Language! We are excited to deliver a new course to Twynham that allows you to dive deep into the art of communication, where every word becomes a tool for creativity, persuasion, and power. This course invites you to not only explore a wide range of captivating texts but also to craft your own original pieces, unlocking your full creative potential. Analyse the nuance of others whilst reflecting on your own creative journey. The course explores English both as a tool for communication and as a subject of study, encouraging students to investigate, debate and conduct independent research on language in use. Throughout the course, you’ll learn how language functions as a powerful tool for personal expression, social interaction, how it is developed in children and even how it can be used to assert power within society. This course allows you to engage in lively debates, conduct your own independent research and explore where our language originates. It is your gateway to mastering nuances of expression and sharpening your skills in critical thinking, enquiry, and analysis—perfect preparation for a range of higher education courses or careers where communication is key. This course fits perfectly in our 'English Triad', with many cross over skills that are also useful when studied alongside Media and English Literature.
