English Language will appeal to you if you enjoy discussion, and like justifying your opinions and the comments you make. It will also appeal to you if you are interested in the way people speak, write and relate to each other. A study of language involves the examination of a wide range of texts from many different contexts. You will need to be interested in how people represent themselves and ideas in speech, writing and media. By studying A Level Language, you will become a far more critical and independent reader and thinker and aware of the various ways that language is used to manipulate and influence.

What you need to get on

GCSE English Language at Grade 6 or above and at least 4 GCSE Grades 9-6.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
