What the college says
Year 12 In this year you will cover the AS English Language qualification which offers exciting opportunities to explore key language concepts and engaging with a range of texts. The specification also explores the study of English language that we encounter on a daily basis such as how we communicate with others. You will also be able to debate different views on such subjects of how we judge how people talk or if males and females use language differently. You will also have the chance to demonstrate your writing skills by creating opinion pieces in a range of forms. Year 13 At this stage you will work towards the full A Level English Language qualification which offers you opportunities to develop your subject expertise further, by engaging creatively and critically with a wide range of texts. You will also create your own texts and reflect critically on the processes of production, while analysing the texts produced by others. This course furthers the exploration of the study of English with an emphasis on lines of enquiry, debating different views, and working independently to research aspects of language in use. This could include some of the bigger questions about how language has changed over time and the stages in which we acquire language early in life.
