English Language is a lively, relevant and engaging course with up-to-date content that reflects contemporary language study. Using exciting text and data-based sources of language, you will be introduced to the study of English in its various forms and contexts. The variety of assessment styles used, such as data analysis, discursive essays, directed writing, original writing and research-based investigative writing, allows you to develop a wide range of skills. These include critical reading, data analysis, evaluation, the ability to develop and sustain arguments and a number of different writing skills which are invaluable for both further study and future employment.
What you need to get on
A minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 6 with at least grade 5 in English Language and English Literature, and Mathematics at grade 4 or above.
How you are assessed
Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.

The A-level-equivalent step, and what universities and employers ask for.
