English Language is one of the two A Levels offered by the English Department. This is a two year course. When studying English Language A level, you will explore the ways in which texts (from all mediums) vary over time and investigate how children learn to speak, read and write. In addition to this, you will study language diversity and change; how it is used by different groups at a local, National and even Global level. You will also submit coursework on "Language in Action", which will include language investigations, and your own original writing/commentary.

What you need to get on

You will need to have a minimum of 5 A* - C grades at GCSE to study this course including at least a Grade B in GCSE English/English Language.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
