The BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Engineering is a Technical qualification. This qualification has been designed as a two-year, full-time course for learners wanting to progress to employment in electrical and electronic engineering, such as a power engineering technician. Learners gain relevant skills and knowledge from studying a range of units, for example in electronic devices and circuits, power and energy systems, printed circuit board design and manufacture, microcontrollers and/or calculus. Learning is achieved through the completion of projects and assignments based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. The course will require elements of home study and some assessments will take the form of examinations.

What you need to get on

A minimum of 5 subjects at GCSE Grade 4/BTEC Level 2 Pass or higher with at least a Grade 4 in GCSE English, a Grade 5 in GCSE Maths, and a Merit or higher in BTEC Level 2 Engineering/a grade 5 or higher in any GCSE Design Technology subject.
