This course is aimed at students who are creative, enjoy taking photographs and are interested in learning more about this wide, subject area. During the course, students will be encouraged to experiment, make informed creative decisions and innovate, working both collaboratively and independently. Areas of study include photographing people and places, still-life photography, photojournalism and fashion photography. The qualification is comprised of 2 components, both of which are internally assessed and externally moderated. Component 1 is a personal investigation. This involves producing a practical project/portfolio with integrated written elements (1000 words minimum) and contributes 60% to the final qualification. Component 2 is an externally set assignment (ESA) in which students are required to independently develop and produce a personal response to a named stimulus. This component contributes 40% to the overall qualification. Here at Kingsmeadow, we offer the Eduqas GCE A Level in Art and Design (Photography).
