What the college says
The course will begin with you stranded on a desert island. Should you collect coconuts or go fishing? From this sandy beginning we will construct the first of many models that explain our complex economy. This course will help you understand the ever changing economic environment. What was the 'Credit Crunch'? How will the UK economy be affected by Brexit? Was the Bank of England right to cut interest rates to the lowest level for 300 years? Should governments control monopolies? You will study the economic theories that help to answer the questions above and many, many more. Students will also find out how to research, handle numerical and written data, and to communicate effectively. You will also get the chance to take part in competitions such as Target 2.0 and Bullbearings FX trading.
