The Early Years Practitioner Level 2 programme is designed to help build the knowledge and skills needed for learners looking to work with children and young people from birth to seven years of age.
What you need to get on
4 GCSEs (9-3) including English Language and Maths, or Level 1 Functional Skills equivalent, or satisfactory results (Merit/Distinction) in a relevant Level 1 qualification, and an interview. A satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS*) check is also required.
How you are assessed
Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.
What this level means
The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
