Dynamic Partnerships - Relationships in Dance

What the college says

In this course, we'll dive into the powerful world of non-verbal communication through dance and physical expression. Inspired by Tanztheater—a dance-theatre tradition where movement tells deeply human stories—we'll explore how dancing together can mirror the full range of relationships: from love and unity to tension, conflict, and everything in between. You'll learn to create movement that expresses these dynamics using tools like contact improvisation, solo choreography, group synchronization, and responsive partner work. Along the way, we'll also touch on styles like social and partner dances (waltz, tango) and fight choreography—especially when they naturally emerge in our creative process. This course is for movers of all backgrounds who are curious about how dance can communicate emotion, connection, and story. Expect to collaborate, take creative risks, and leave with a deeper understanding of how your body can communicate.
