The population of London grew dramatically in the 19th century. A bigger population meant more dead people and London's existing burial grounds couldn't cope. This course looks at the Magnificent Seven Victorian London cemeteries that were built to accommodate dead Londoners. The course looks at the history of the cemeteries, who is buried in them and how to read the symbolism of Victorian gravestones

A booklist will be available and students may find background reading helpful, although not essential. A reasonable level of English comprehension is helpful.
