The Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing (Companion Animals) provides theory and practical skills learning to meet the requirements of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons VN Day One Competences and Skills. This ensures that successful completion of the course & training requirements leads to students being eligible to apply to be a Registered Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS. This course is for applicants currently employed in a veterinary practice that is approved to support VN training, or one that intends to become an approved Training Practice (TP). Interviews are offered to applicants who have employment in a TP, who have the entry requirements & have the support of the employer to commence training. Most applicants have a degree of prior working experience in a veterinary practice before commencing training.
What you need to get on
The qualification entry requirements are: a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above in English Language, maths, a science and two others, or suitable equivalences such as Level 3 Animal Management and GCSE English & maths at grade C/4 or Level 2 Functional Skills in English & maths or a Level 2 Animal Care (min Merit or Distinction), one further GCSE at grade C/4 or higher and English & maths GCSE grade C/4 or Level 2 Functional Skills in English & maths. Equivalencies are subject to review.
