This course will provide knowledge underpinning and practical/technical skills training apprpriate to the trained stonemason (Banker). It is suitable both for those currently unemployed who wish to advance their skills and for apprentices, as the knowledge component of the Level 2 Apprenticeship Framework. Learners applying for the BCC Advanced Stone Diploma also undertake this course as a part of their studies. Participants will learn about complex masonry components, advanced hand tools and portable power tools, production of drawing details for production of stonemasonry units and a variety of essential aspects of site operation including Health & Safety.

What you need to get on

We do not set an abolute entry standard but we prefer to do an individual assessment at College, where we can gauge your suitability, with or without additional support. This qualification is offered on a flexible part or full time time basis, and may be discussed between BCC Stonemasontry staff and the potential learner in the first instance.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
