Criminology is the study of how crime is defined, why some people commit crime and what happens when they do. It is also the study of the police, the courts and penal systems, as well as the prevention and deterrence of criminal behaviour. This qualification is designed to give students an introduction to the theories of criminology and is well suited to students looking to pursue a career in a range of uniformed services, especially the police force.

What you need to get on

Students need to have obtained the following:  at least five grade 9-4 GCSE passes, plus  at least a grade 4 in English Students need to have a keen interest in human behaviour and in finding out what might cause people to commit crimes.
