What the college says
This course is a progression route for anyone who already holds the Level 2 qualification in Beauty Therapy and can be taken by 16-18 year old learners who are in a full-time Level 3 education programme. It is for those who wish to develop their basic beauty skills into more advanced techniques and treatments, making them highly employable within the beauty industry.Throughout this qualification, learners will develop their knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology and health and safety. They will also develop the knowledge, understanding and skills to consult with clients, successfully promote and retail products, provide a range of beauty treatments including Swedish massage, skin and body analysis and electrical science in order to make informed decisions for face and body electrical treatments. In parallel, learners will develop their communication and customer service skills, their awareness of environmental sustainability and their commercial skills, all of which are valued highly by employers. Problem solving and research skills will also be developed.
What you need to get on
Level 2 Beauty Therapy or equivalent & good standard of GCSE English A-C/4-9 or equivalent. If aged under 19 and do not have GCSE A-C/4-9, it is a funding requirement to attend additional English and/or Maths classes. Beauty Therapy is a service industry so you need to be part of a team - essential at Level 3. Level 3 students are expected to have a good self-study ethic, where topics are researched & revised so that the lesson progresses well & underpinning theoretical knowledge is in place.
