What the college says

This qualification has been developed for people working or wanting to work in the children and young people�s workforce. It is suitable for those in full or part time learning or employment, it develops the wide-ranging knowledge and skills needed when working with children and young people from birth up to 19 years. It covers a diverse range of job roles and occupational areas - including those in social care settings and offers a wealth of career opportunities. On completion learners will be able to work unsupervised with children and young people.

What you need to get on

Learners should be at least 19 years old. We do not set any other entry requirements but we highly recommend a level 2 in Maths, English and ICT. Learners will need to be working, volunteering or on practical placement as they will need to show competence in both knowledge and skills. For those learners who have no previous experience of working with children and young people, it is recommended that 400 hours be spent in a Real Work Environment.
