This qualification will suit you if you are working in an oral health environment and have considerable knowledge and skills in relation to dental equipment, instruments and materials. You are able to work under minimum supervision as a key member of the oral healthcare team. At this level you'll gain the skills and knowledge you need for chairside work, providing support for a range of dental procedures, including: Preparing and maintaining environments, instruments and equipment for clinical dental procedures, Providing chairside support for extraction of teeth and minor oral surgery, Dental radiography. The Advanced Apprenticeship in Dental Nursing is open to any Dental Nurses employed in a dental practice. This qualification is approved by the General Dental Council. The role of a Dental Nurse is regulated by the General Dental Council and an individual can apply to join the register upon satisfactory completion of a registerable qualification. The City & Guilds L3 Diploma in Dental Nursing (QCF) is a registerable qualification. Apprentices gain the new skills and learning they need to carry out these jobs as well as preparing them for future employment and career progression. This framework supports the broad vision of the sector to develop an increasingly skilled, flexible and effective workforce whilst maintaining high quality and safe care for patients and addresses specific outcomes of the Skills for Health Sector Skills Assessment 2011.
