This qualification includes all the required elements to work effectively as a professional theatrical media make-up artist including: health and safety practice; client care and communication; airbrush make-up to the face; camouflage make-up; media make-up; fashion and photographic make-up; style and fit postiche and the application of prosthetic pieces and bald caps. Create and cast small prosthetic pieces and bald caps; face and body art. You will learn through theory and practical sessions and you will undertake written and practical exams. Working on external clientele to complete your practical assessments.You will need to purchase a uniform. This will be available at a discounted price and ordered directly from our uniform partners. You will also need to purchase a black pair of trousers and a pair of black closed in shoes. You will also need to purchase a kit which will give you all the tools and equipment required to complete the course. As a theatrical make up student you can not wear false lashes or nails. All MidKent College students will continue studying English and maths until they are 19, or until they have achieved a Grade C/4. Your study programme will incorporate a work placement of up to 350 hours in a role relevant to your study. All students will have access to a Personal Tutor to support their personal and professional development.
What you need to get on
Completion of a Level 2 hair and media make up qualification. Five GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including English and maths at grade C/4 or above.
