Aimed at School Leavers. The Digital Built Environment course is designed to allow you to develop the higher level skills needed to progress to university or employment at a technical or professional level within the engineering or property & construction industry. The duration of this course is two years. The first year of your course will be spent studying construction principles in maths, materials and human comfort, along with core built environment units, such as construction technology and construction design. You will also gain fundamental skills, which are essential to successful progression into the digital built environment; in health & safety, surveying and legislation. In your second year, alongside specialist project management, graphical detailing and building information modelling (BIM) units, you will get the opportunity to complete a specialist project in house design, construction methods or renewable energy, which should align with your future career plans. In Design Engineer Construct, you will have the opportunity to design and develop your own building design, in response to a live employer brief. You will explore every professional role in the built environment over the lifecycle of your project to design a full Revit model, structural and mechanical plans and facilities management handover report. Your GCSE results will determine the level you start at: Level 3 - Five or more GCSEs at grade 9-4 including English Language and Maths Level 2 - Four or more GCSEs at grade 9-3 including English Language and Maths Level 1 - Four or more GCSEs at grade 9-2 including English Language and Maths Specific grades are required in certain subjects.
