Examination Board: AQA 7552 The course has been designed to:  encourage students to take a broad view of design and technology  develop the student’s capacity to design and make products and to appreciate the complex relationship between design, materials, manufacture and marketing.  provide opportunities for students to be creative (top marks are reserved for those students who demonstrate innovative thinking and creativity)  provide opportunities for students to apply scientific and mathematic knowledge through designing and making prototypes There are 4 assessment objectives. The examination and non-examined assessment will measure how students have achieved the following:  AO1: Identify, investigate and outline design possibilities to address needs and wants.  AO2: Design and make prototypes that are fit for purpose.  AO3: Analyse and evaluate: - design decisions and outcomes, including for prototypes made by themselves and others - wider issues in design and technology.  AO4: Demonstrate and apply knowledge and understanding of: - technical principles - designing and making principles. Students should be highly motivated and have a passion for designing and making real products. Good drawing skills, creative energy, ICT, CADCAM and fine making skills are important.
