Design and technology is an inspiring, rigorous and practical subject. Using creativity and imagination, students design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts, considering their own and others needs, wants and values. Students acquire a broad range of subject knowledge and draw on disciplines such as mathematics, science, engineering, computing and art. Students learn how to take risks, becoming resourceful, innovative, enterprising and capable individuals. Through the evaluation of past and present design and technology, they develop a critical understanding of its impact on daily life and the wider world. High-quality design and technology education makes an essential contribution to the creativity, culture, wealth and wellbeing of the nation. If you want to make a difference, if you want to contribute to a better future for all or simply just love creating new and innovative products, then A Level Design and Technology is the path you should take.

What you need to get on

You must have a minimum grade 5 in Design and Technology or equivalent specialisms, e.g., graphic product design, engineering, fashion and textiles or resistant materials, etc. It is also recommended that you have a level 4 or above in mathematics, English and science. We will consider students with a desire to pursue a career in Design but have not had an opportunity to accrue the required entry qualifications. You will need an interview and a portfolio of work in these circumstances

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
