Adequate dance experience - GCSE or BTEC Performing Arts is preferable however some candidates may have grade work or a high level of dance experience from outside the school environment. Candidates must be aware though that much of the practical elements are creative and are more complex than following given steps. What you will do: • Candidates will have the opportunity to further their experience of performance and choreography and to engage in critical thinking about dance. • Study professional work in a variety of styles although predominantly contemporary. • Develop an understanding of the history of Dance in its contexts and allow the dancer to specialise in a particular dance style (Ballet, Contemporary or Jazz). • Explore a range of professional works from different practitioners. Future prospects: • Dancer/Actor/physical theatre performer/choreographer • Teacher - school/freelance • Dance Science • Jobs related to performing Arts/Theatre • A2 supports careers in history and sports science

Grade 6 or above, GCSE Dance or Merit or above in Dance BTEC, level 2

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
