The main aim is to introduce learners to the complex nature of business. It encourages students to develop a detailed knowledge of how businesses are organised and operate as well as developing their own employability skills. Students do not need to have studied business previously to take this course. The course aims to provide the opportunity to develop in the following areas: • Gain a broad understanding of business and study selected areas in depth • Develop business skills • Gain confidence by developing independent learning skills • Be able to progress to higher education and employment. All units are assessed internally; this may involve written assignments, presentations and practical activities. This course involves a range of teaching and learning styles, including: teacher input, research projects, workshops, debates and discussions, data response activities, case studies, presentations, visits to focus organisations, outside speakers, work experience and practical assessments.
