What the college says

Criminology is the scientific study of crime and criminals. You will investigate the different techniques used in a criminal investigation such as forensics, policing and the judiciary process. You will also consider the effectiveness of different strategies used to reduce criminality from custodial sentences and the impact of community orders. You will study the psychological and sociological theories of crime as well as how crime is perceived in society and the impact of the media and crime statistics. WHERE DOES IT LEAD? The WJEC Level 3 Applied Diploma in Criminology provides learners with an introduction to criminal justice and to give a context for humanities learning. Criminology develops the understanding to support entry to higher education courses in the humanities sector, and onto careers in the criminal justice sector, social and probation work and sociology and psychology.
