Criminology is the study of crime from a social perspective: the causes of crime, the social impact of crime, and the criminals involved in the crime. Criminologists study criminology in an attempt to better understand what motivates the criminal to act in a criminal manner. Students study 4 units over 2 years. Each year there will be one unit examined by an internal controlled assessment and one externally examined by formal exam. Successful completion of the first two units will give the WJEC Level 3 Certificate in Criminology while completion of all 4 units the WJEC Level 3 Diploma in Criminology.
