This course is for those who wish to explore an interest in counselling and improve, extend and enhance their listening skills. It is for those who are interested in theory, who wish to develop and who are considering progressing on to become a qualified counsellor. This course involves a high level of work on personal growth and development. The aims of the course are to provide the student with the opportunity to develop counselling skills in a helping relationship and to learn appropriate boundaries. Students will develop knowledge of three main counselling theoretical approaches and gain an understanding of the contexts and ethics relevant in the use of counselling skills. Students will also reflect on their own personal and future development and identify potential sources of support. During the course you will: -participate in small group and whole class discussions; -produce a presentation; -regularly work in a triad and thus have the opportunity to practise the skills you have learned, learn from your peers, and to both give and receive feedback; -learn about yourself and your relationships.In this course there are four modules: -Counselling Skills and Personal Development; -Using Counselling Skills; -Introduction to Counselling Theories; -Diversity and Ethics in the use of Counselling Skills. PLEASE NOTE: This course may be conducted totally via Zoom during the Covid pandemic.

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.
What this level means
The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
