What the college says
This course is designed to support learners who want to work in the support and care sector. Successful completion provides the skills and knowledge needed for a range of roles that support the well-being of individuals. Learners are encouraged to explore relevant job roles through the National Careers Service to check how the course supports their chosen career path. To enrol, learners must have completed a Level 2 Counselling course of at least 75 hours. The course is suitable for individuals who can demonstrate emotional stability, self-awareness, motivation to develop as a counselling practitioner, awareness of difference and diversity, and the ability to form counselling relationships. Learners should be able to reflect on personal experience, benefit from self-development, cope with course content, and identify reasons for training beyond personal interest. The course is not suitable for anyone currently experiencing severe emotional or psychological difficulties, as it includes experiential activities involving personal disclosure. Tutors may advise learners to defer if the course is not appropriate at that time.
