This Level 1 introductory programme can lead to a range of exciting careers within the construction industry. During the course, you will try your hand at a variety of skills from the construction industry and gain an overview into the following trades: •Carpentry and joinery •Bricklaying •Plumbing •Electrical This course is delivered in the College’s specialist and realistic working environment, the Stephen Burke Construction Academy, in partnership with St. Modwen Homes. Workshops are designed to train the next generation of construction professionals to the highest industry standards. Our qualifications are taught by fully qualified industry professionals, passing on their knowledge to allow you to enter a driven industry and lead in the future of the sector Studies at the Stephen Burke Construction Academy allow you to progress in safe, realistic working environments. You’ll learn practical skills alongside the underpinning principles required to be successful in the industry. All courses offer enrichment opportunities and work experience with partners in the industry such as St. Modwen Homes to offer the chance to complete exciting customer and industry driven projects and gain experiences which bridge the gap between education and employment. Each year, learners are also given the opportunity to be nominated for a prestigious learner of the year award which guarantees an interview for an exciting position at St. Modwen Homes as trainee in either site management/technica
What you need to get on
Applicants will be expected to have achieved a minimum of 2 GCSEs at grade 2 or Have successfully completed BSDC’s Advance to Vocational Study programme
How you are assessed
Entry level and Level 1 study, English and maths retakes, and supported programmes.

A first step that builds towards Level 2.
