This qualification provides a practical introduction to the construction industry, allowing learners to explore a range of trades such as bricklaying, carpentry, plastering, tiling, painting and decorating, plumbing, and electrical work. It is suitable for learners who are interested in developing foundation skills for a career in construction, especially those unsure which trade to specialise in. Learners will gain both practical and employability skills through hands-on workshops and site visits. Learners must wear appropriate protective clothing, including safety boots, gloves, and hi-vis vests. The course also includes employability sessions, guest talks from local employers, and support from the College�s Careers and Student Services teams to help plan next steps into further study, apprenticeships, or employment.

What you need to get on

GCSE grade 9-2 (A*-E) in English and maths. Equivalence of these qualifications will be considered. Evidence of a commitment to learn and the ability to study at this level shown at interview.
