BTEC Computing allows students to explore different aspects of computer technology, develop their mathematical skills and develop the ability to articulate the processes involved in computing systems, including security and encryption methodologies. This course is designed to allow progression from GCSE Computer Science and allows students to develop an understanding of and ability to apply the fundamental principles and concepts of Computer Science, including abstraction, decomposition, logic, algorithms and data representation. Throughout the course students will develop the ability to analyse problems in computational terms through practical experience of solving such problems including developing systems to do so.

What you need to get on

General entry requirements to study Level 3 qualifications at Hillview Sixth Form are Grade 4 or above in both English Language and Maths and in 3 other GCSE subjects. Subject Specific Criteria: GCSE Computer Science or computing equivalent Grade 4 or above. GCSE Grade 4 in English Language and Maths. An APS of 4.5 or above.
