The new specification will: Focus on programming, and emphasise the importance of computational thinking as a discipline. Have an expanded maths focus, much of which will be embedded within the course. Put computational thinking at its core, helping students to develop the skills to solve problems. Design systems and understand human and machine intelligence. Give students a clear progression into higher education.

What you need to get on

To study Computer Science you do not need to have studied Computer Science or ICT at GCSE. However it is expected that you are confident in the use of a PC. There is significant mathematical content in the new specifications, therefore it is expected that students have a minimum of Grade 5 in Mathematics and are confident mathematicians.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
