Have you ever wanted to know how to perform professional makeovers or provide professional treatments in salons? Or you would love to run your own beauty business? This course gives you a great start to a successful career in the beauty industry, introducing a range of exciting treatments including manicures, pedicures, waxing and facials. You’ll be taught in Newham College’s professionally run salon Avant Garde, where you’ll be able to perform treatments and perfect your newly-acquired skills on paying clients.

What you need to get on

You will need to possess at least 5 GCSEs at grade 3 or above and a Level 1 qualification. In addition, you must enjoy working with people and have good communication skills, along with a good level of written and spoken English. You must be willing to purchase a professional kit and a uniform for this course. You will be invited to the college for an initial assessment and interview to determine your suitability for the course.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
